Sir Richard Francis Burton 1821-90
Explorer, Scholar, Writer, Poet, Linguist, Anthopologist, Ethnologist, Swordsman etc.
I have had a great interest in Sir Richard Burton for a number of years. I think others might possibly like to see some pictures that I took (about five years apart) of the mausoleum which his wife Isabel built in the churchyard of St Mary Magdalene's in Mortlake, Surrey, on the south-western outskirts of London. Never a pretentious site, the yard backs onto a primary school and is accessible with no fuss at all. Contact me by all means
I have tried to include here only items on Burton that are a little out of the ordinary - as well as some personal observations
